I am...
# A 30 year old New-Media and fine artist, who lives in Tel-Aviv, together with my wife Tal (who's also an artist) and our dog Zappa. On my free time I study for a BA in Social Studies and Humanities in the Open University. I care about our society and our culture. I like being active, but I hate the term activist.
# I create new media art - for a detailed definition click here. I mostly use cycling74's Max/Msp/Jitter for my new media installations but also java, open source software's, and whatever works.
# My installations are my own 'micro-scale social experiments'. I call it Socially-Aware Art. It means that my work often involves interaction between myself and the observer through the artworks. I aim to initiate socially-aware encounters among observers. The observers’ experience is the focal point of my creations.
# Typically, I take the location into account while planning and creating the artwork, but it is not always the case.
# In addition to my work with new-media, I create oil paintings and create works on paper using a variety of materials, such as water colors, ink stones, pastels, plastic compounds and other ingredients. In my studio I am exploring new ways to connect the physical world to the virtual world, where real object affect machine animated life.
# I am available for hire to create new-media tools & experiences for corporate events and theatrical productions.
# My sources for inspiration include: people, fine art, net art, real time art, local and global collaboration, intersection of art, science, society and technology, assistive technologies development for both social and medical environments, music, books, live performances, and this list can go on and on and on...
# Another source of inspiration is from my past: On December 21st 2000 I was "hugged" by a suicide bomber who blew himself up all over me. This event had clearly affected me in many ways. In a sense, it is always on my mind. Even now.
